Aside from Mark Mabasa, there was another contestant who made a good impression with the judges during the first leg of the X Factor Philippines Auditions. That contestant is JE Mandapat, whose sob story sort of fitted with the ambience James Ingram's I Don't Have the Heart seemingly induced. JE is a call center agent, and from the looks of it, he might be a tough contender in the semis. Watch JE Mandapat's rendition of a James Ingram classic below.

X Factor Philippines has officially started airing last weekend and I have feedbacks that Charice was kind of annoying. I tried to search for videos to prove that but the process brought me to this video of Mark Mabasa, a male contestant who WOWed the judges with his rendition of A Song For You, which I first heard from Elliot Yamin of American Idol.

Mark is surely talented and I think he is in for a spot in the semi-finals. Well, let's hope that's the case. In the meantime, take time to watch his X Factor audition video.

HTC One X is a stylish and powerful smartphone from Taiwan-based manufacturer HTC, and the moment I saw this unit inside an HTC store, I just can't help but drool over it (at least in my mind).

It looks beautiful, isn't it? But with a phone so hyped up to be so good, there has got to be a catch. And when I tried to look for the flaws of the phone, I surely found some and more which might get you thinking if you are gonna spend your buck on this one. Problems encountered by users of HTC One X involve the screen display, the battery, and Wi-Fi. As always, nothing is perfect in this imperfect cruel world.

Here are some details I gathered online.

HTC One X Problem 1: Screen

The 4.7-inch high resolution display is indeed drool-worthy but it is reported that its build is kind of flawed. A CNET reporter said that pushing on the edges of the curved screen causes the display to flex and screen discoloration occurs. The user also added that it is cumbersome when you suddenly activate something on the screen by just gripping the phone's edges tightly.

HTC One X Problem 2: Battery

Some users report overheating issues while playing games such as Temple Run. Others report that HTC One X constantly seeks positioning data which drained its battery fast.  There was even one user who went as far as saying that the battery dies after a few hours only and that the phone was very hot in his pocket.

HTC One X Problem 3: Wi-Fi

Problems with Wi-Fi connections were sometimes reported too. I am not sure if it is the problem of the network itself or the phone's ability to detect Wi-Fi networks. Anyway, this must just be an isolated case.

HTC One X Problem 4: Speed

Well, one of the promises of a high-end smartphone is speed. However, HTC One X is allegedly slow in this department. Some users reported that they experienced a considerable lag when playing games. Screen allegedly becomes unresponsive during game plays.

For all we know, this might be just the result of a fresh release. These bugs and problems will surely be dealt with  and fixed. Despite these, I still think HTC One X is one helluva phone and I want to get my hands on it.
